Body envy. It happens every single time when those infomercials featuring perfectly proportioned models pop onto the television screen promising an enviable bodyweight if you’ll just fork over enough cash to make you skinny forever.

Even though you know there’s no magic pill that guarantees overnight success, sometimes it’s tempting to dole out the money. It’s enticing because losing weight is a struggle and a vicious uphill battle that’s not always so easily fought.

The appeal to find a quick fix hits you every now and then – especially when you’ve worked hard to lose a little bit of weight and then you fall off the diet wagon and gain it all back (and then some). You may have lost count of the times you’ve thought, “There has to be an easier way to lose weight!”

Have you purchased every weight loss book ever published, forced down the diet bars, consumed the shakes, and attended the weight loss meetings so many times you could have paid for the entire building by the time you quit? Have you done all of this and yet you still haven’t seen the long-term results that you crave more than food itself?

Are you sick and tired of trying, but you still know you need to lose weight so that you can have a healthier life?  Or maybe you only need to lose a few pounds to fit into that new outfit or look good for an upcoming class reunion.  You know you want to lose weight, but you don’t want a gimmick and you certainly don’t want to keep going down a road that leads nowhere.

You just want to find a plan that really works for you without all of the empty promises. There’s something you might not know about the battle of the bulge – something that can help you gain the victory once and for all without having to resort to any costly plans or fancy gimmicks.

Best of all, the way you can lose weight can be found in your own refrigerator, in your pantry or at your grocery store. By the way, this little known method of losing weight won’t break your wallet. I guarantee it.

Understanding the Basics of Weight Loss

To understand how weight loss works, you have to first understand how calories work. A calorie is an energy given in the foods you eat. Your body uses this energy as fuel. Think of it as wood for a fireplace. If you put in too much wood, the fire gets too hot and there’s too much heat produced.

In the same manner, too much consumption of calories, especially those foods with empty calories, equals an overabundance of fuel. The same way you would store wood in stacked piles for your fireplace, the body stacks an overabundance of calories as fat.

It then takes that fat and adds it to the places you don’t want it put. Then you see results like a tummy that laps over the top of your jeans – often called a muffin top – or you discover the results are flabby thighs or a double chin. To make the battle of weight loss even more discouraging, that fat, and its cellulite can give you a lumpy, bumpy look.

Cellulite is pockets of that stored fat beneath the surface of your skin.  In other words, it’s the chocolate cake or donuts or the second helping of carbohydrates if those calories aren’t burned.

Now, all of that’s the bad news. But the good news is, you don’t have to accept being overweight as your fate (no matter how many times you’ve fallen off the diet wagon in the past).

Because this weight loss technique is easy and inexpensive, so you can stick with it forever. Not only can you stay on the plan, but you’ll find you actually enjoy it!

Your Body’s Silent Workout

When you watch a movie, what you see is the finished product. All of the actors and actresses stand where they’re supposed to. They say their lines like a pro and they look good doing it.

What you don’t see happening is the chapped hands and runny noses from filming outside in below zero weather or the nights filming lasted until two in the morning. You didn’t see what went on behind the show.

Many people sit down to eat a meal or a snack and never give a second’s thought to what goes on behind the scenes once the food is finished. Everyone knows how you gain weight and most of us are pros at the gaining. We gain by eating too much of the wrong kinds of food. But what if I told you something about your own body that could help you lose weight?

With every bite of food that you eat, your body must work to digest it. Because your body is expending energy to digest the food, it’s actually performing a silent workout. Sounds great, right? Your body is working out without you having to lift a finger.

Picture this: your body is burning energy to digest the food while you watch television, while you talk on the phone, drive to work and even while you sleep. It sounds like a fantastic win-win situation doesn’t it?

If it’s so fantastic, then why are some people still overweight? Because you’re not eating the right kinds of foods. You’re still stuck measuring portions and counting carbs and assigning foods as good or bad.

The truth is, there is no such thing. Food is simply fuel. All of it is. But how (and at what rate) the fuel is burned depends on the foods you eat because it correlates to how it makes your bodywork. Still follow me?

Negative Calorie Foods – Your Body’s Secret Weapon

What if you discovered you could lose weight simply with the foods you choose to eat?  Foods that help you work off calories simply by eating them. It sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? But it’s not. There are foods that make your digestive system use more energy to consume them than the calories contained in the foods themselves.

When you use more energy to digest a food than the caloric value of food, then those foods are called negative calorie foods. By eating these negative calorie foods, you will burn calories and you will lose weight effortlessly.

This is a rough example of how it works:

Let’s say you have a slice of chocolate cheesecake from the store bakery and you consume roughly 350 calories (or more depending on the type of ingredients used). Once you’ve eaten that slice of cheesecake, your body goes to work breaking it down and beginning the digestion process.

Let’s say your body burns 150 calories digesting that cake (and that’s probably figuring the amount burned on the high end). You’re still left with a gain of 200 calories. These calories will turn into unwanted fat and weight gain if not used as energy by the body. Now, remember, the number of calories you burn by eating negative calorie food will depend on the type of food it is.

Instead of the chocolate cheesecake, let’s say for example that you chose an apple instead. A medium-sized apple has approximately 80 calories. You eat the apple and then the digestion process begins.

Because an apple is a negative calorie food, your body works harder to digest it than you gain in calories by eating it. The difference in negative calorie foods is comparable to the difference between walking and running. When you go for a low key walk, you don’t expend the same amount of energy you would if you were running.

Let’s Do the Math

Math was never my favorite subject in school, but this kind of math is the kind I love. So let’s go back to the foods. If you eat that apple, you’ve ingested around 80 calories. Your body begins the digestion workout and without you having to do anything, burns calories.

Let’s say as an example, that your body burns around 100 to 110 calories. We’ll split that and say the body burned 105 calories. To eat that 80 calorie apple, you would have burned an extra 25 calories.

If you had the slice of chocolate cheesecake but felt the urge to eat the apple afterward, you would then be 25 calories to the good on the cheesecake. Follow me? Boiled down, it means that 350 calorie cheesecake minus the 25 extra calories you burned by eating the apple leaves you with 175 calories charged against your caloric intake for the cheesecake rather than the entire calorie count for the cheesecake.

However, unlike math, there is no simple formula that can subtract months or years of eating the wrong way. But with a little addition of the right kind of foods – negative calorie ones, you can erase those pounds and keep them off.

There are a few things to keep in mind with any type of diet. The more involved a diet is, the less success most people achieve in the long run. Studies have shown that the more elaborate a weight loss plan is, the less likely the person is to stick with it to the end because we like things basic and to the point.

None of us has the time to waste filling out complex charts and recording every single morsel we put into our mouths. That’s why negative calorie foods are an ideal weight loss plan for people who want to lose weight, want to get healthy and want a simple method but need a little something extra working in their favor.

Your own digestive system can give you that boost you need to keep going until you’ve reached your goal weight. By using your body’s own digestive system, you can actually change the equation.

Stealing From the Store

If you’re a junk food junkie, you probably have more than your share of fat stored – fat you would love to see disappear. Remember the apple math? If you have fat stored from junk food and you start eating negative calorie foods, what’s going to happen is those negative calorie foods are going to begin stealing from you.

These foods are going to take the fat your body put in-store and they’re going to begin using it. Why? Because it took more energy to consume that negative food than the negative food had to give. That energy deficit had to be made up somehow and your body knows just where to get it.

When you eat negative calorie foods, your body works hard enough to pull the nutrients and energy from the foods to the point that the food calories don’t count. If there’s not enough energy in the foods your body digests to perform the job, like a car putting in more gas, your body will pull up to the pump – in this case, the fat stores – and get whatever it needs to finish the task.

I know what you’re thinking!

“This is one thief I wouldn’t mind having around!”

But Are These Negative Calorie Foods Good For You?

Are you thinking there must be a catch? That negative calorie foods are some type of exotic food with names you can’t pronounce?  With all the benefits we’ve talked about that come from eating negative calorie foods, they can’t possibly be good for you, right?

Wrong!

In fact, negative calorie foods are exactly the kinds of foods doctors not only recommend that you eat, but also encourage patients to do so for weight loss and disease prevention. What are these mystery foods? They’re certain fruits and vegetables. Since experts agree that more fruits and vegetables are a good thing for everyone, negative calorie foods are a great weight loss plan.

This isn’t a complete list, but for an easy reference, I’ll mention some of those foods for you. In the vegetable department, negative calorie foods are: turnips, cucumbers, lettuce, asparagus, broccoli, radishes, cabbage, celery, spinach, carrots, leeks, and cauliflower.

Fruits that fall under the heading of negative calorie foods are: watermelon, apricot, tomato, apple, blackberry, tangerine, cranberry, cantaloupe, peaches, lime, grapefruit, lemon, papaya, honeydew melon, strawberries, pineapple, plums, mandarin orange, raspberry, rhubarb, and honeydew melon.

There’s nothing odd about that list of vegetables or fruits. They’re just ordinary foods with the power to create negative calories upon consumption.  Now don’t get confused thinking that the phrase ‘negative calorie foods’ means that the foods don’t have any calories, because that isn’t the case at all.

The food you eat does contain calories – your body just has to work so hard to digest them that you wind up with a caloric deficit once it’s all said and done.

Is it safe to eat negative calorie foods?

Yes, it’s safe. You can’t overdose on negative calorie foods. Unlike heavily advertised pills and gimmicks, there are no ill effects to eating negative calorie foods because they’re healthy for your body – working to keep it naturally lean and strong enough to produce the energy you need throughout the day.

For many dieters, the idea of fasting is tempting, but the thought of going days without food is too overwhelming. No one wants to suffer the loss of energy that comes with going on a fast – even if it does eventually make you feel better in the long run.

Intermittent Fasting (IF) is gaining ground as one of the most popular ways to lose weight, gain health and live longer right now. But this isn’t a fad that’s new – this is something people have done for many years.

What Is Intermittent Fasting?

Intermittent fasting is when you develop an eating pattern throughout your day. For part of the time, you’re living on water, coffee or tea. The other time, you’re eating healthy, nutritious foods.

Some serious fasters count all calories as off-limits, so that would mean you exist on water only – no coffee, tea or other low-calorie drinks. It’s up to you how you want to incorporate it into your world.

There are also variations of the fasting where you rotate hours or days where calories aren’t forbidden, but limited – versus how they’re unrestricted on the days when you’re not fasting.

So for example, on a “fasting” day, you might restrict your caloric intake by an extreme amount, eating just 500 calories a day, whereas, on a non-fasting day, you eat 2,500 or so.

There are different ways to adhere to an intermittent fasting routine. Some people fast for 8 hours and then eat regularly for 16 hours. Others alternate days – one-day fasting, one day not.

You can do it any way you like – 10 hours of fasting and 14 hours of eating. Whatever you feel comfortable with. You can start out easy and then increase the number of hours you spend fasting until you get the hang of it and know how your body will react.

Some dieters count the sleep phase as part of the fasting period so that you either go to bed while fasting or wake up fasting, eating your calories during the main working hours.

What Are the Benefits to Intermittent Fasting?

Aside from the weight loss benefits, because you’re ultimately restricting a certain number of calories, you also gain other benefits when adopting an intermittent fasting regimen.

Some studies show that it might contribute to your longevity. Lab animals have shown that fasting does indeed contribute to a longer life. It wasn’t the same for all of the lab rats, though.

Male and female rats have different results depending on how frequently they fast – males fasting on a 24-hour rotation and females fasting once every three days.

Your body actually learns how to better use the calories and nutrition that you give it when you start fasting periodically on a schedule. It regulates your fat storage and insulin usage correctly.

You’ll enjoy fasting if you’re busy and always on the go because every dieter knows how hard it is to shop for, prepare and cook healthy foods – and fasting eliminates that portion of your day.

It can also save you money! Fasting cuts your grocery bill because you’re consuming less food. Dieters typically have to spend much more because they’re suddenly buying fresh fruits and vegetables and lean cuts of meat rather than cheap, processed foods.

Some researchers say that intermittent fasting promotes HGH – Human Growth Hormone – production. This helps stave off the aging process and allows you to live longer and healthier.

Some studies are showing that it helps delay or improve symptoms of Alzheimer’s too – apparently aiding in the brain’s capacity to store and retrieve memories.

You’re going to see your triglycerides and bad (LDL) cholesterol improve, your blood pressure achieve a better normal, and the inflammation in your body begin to decrease.

Your cellular repair will be heightened and fat will burn at a rate you haven’t seen before. Even your heart will function better because fasting like this provides cardiovascular benefits.

What Are the Negative Sides of Intermittent Fasting?

If you fast for long periods of time right off the bat when your body isn’t used to it, then you might feel the effects of not having food to provide energy for you initially.

Some people rely on caffeine and sugar to help them kickstart their day, but if you improve your sleep hygiene and get a good night’s rest, you won’t be in need of a breakfast crutch to gain momentum.

You might experience hunger when you begin fasting. The sad thing is, most people don’t even know what hunger really is anymore. We tend to eat on a schedule, not according to what our bodies are telling us.

Once you start fasting, you’ll really start to tune into your hunger cues. This will make it easy for you, when and if you get off of your intermittent fasting routine, to eat when you’re truly hungry and not eat calories just because the clock says it’s time.

A lot of this is mental, not physical in nature. You’ll be used to eating, so you’ll miss it. If you have habits of stopping by for a morning Starbucks or a donut, you’ll feel hungrier when you’re fasting because the habit’s been broken. But that will go away over time.

Some people who are against skipping breakfast will argue that it can wreak havoc on your body’s ability to manage insulin levels. But whether you’re fasting because you’re asleep, or because it’s scheduled during the day, you still can use the end of a fasting period to help manage your insulin levels.

The Importance of Your Non-Fasting Nutrition

Because you’re now limited your food intake, it’s more important now to make sure you get the proper nutrition for the times when you are going to consume calories.

Eat foods that your body needs during that time. You certainly don’t want to burn up your non-fasting time with poor nutrition and empty calories that won’t make you feel full for long.

You don’t want to crash early – you want to feel satiated for a long period of time. You still want to eat healthy, using foods such as:

  • Lean meats

  • Eggs

  • Yogurt

  • Milk

  • Cheese

  • Nuts

  • Beans

  • Fruit

  • Whole grains

  • Vegetables

This kind of nutrition will ensure your body is getting the proper nutrients, and that you feel full longer – more energetic for the fasting period when you’re consuming low or zero-calorie options.

Zero Tea 14 Day Detox Tea, Weight Loss Tea, Teatox Herbal Tea for Cleanse

Exercising on an Intermittent Fasting Regimen

Whenever most people go on a typical fast, their energy is drained dramatically, so they wait to exercise until they’re on the non-fasting portion of their routine again.

But many advocates of the intermittent fasting routine say that the best time to work out is at the end of your fasting period – right before you start consuming calories again.

If your body has used up all of its glycogen stores, then it will burn pure fat while you exercise. At first, it might be hard to get used to this routine, but it gets easier the more you work the habit into your day.

You still want to maintain a healthy mix of cardio and strength training exercises. Some people mistakenly believe that by fasting, you’ll be losing muscle – but it’s not the muscle that gets burned off – it’s fat – so you become leaner and stronger if you adhere to an exercise routine.

Don’t go insane trying to initiate an intermittent fasting regimen paired with the P90X right out of the gate. You should probably start with light exercise at first and work your way up to more intense movement.

Should You Try Intermittent Fasting?

This type of plan isn’t for everyone. There are many conveniences, though – so unlike other tedious diet plans, this one simplified your life more than it adds stress to it.

You will learn how to be more in touch with your hunger cues, and how to schedule your eating so that you burn as much fat as possible during hours when it seems effortless.

It achieves the same results as some other diet methods, so if you find that fasting isn’t for you, you can try a more traditional approach to things, such as scheduled meals and calorie reduction.

Much of what fasting entails is mental. You have to suddenly learn how to drown out your inner voice that is screaming for food because “it’s time to eat!” You won’t starve to death going without a meal in 6 hours.

You might feel uncomfortable at first, realizing there are true hunger pangs that exist when you hadn’t felt them in forever. But nothing horrible is going to happen to you because of fasting.

You already fast when you sleep, and this is just an extension of that. Most Intermittent Fasting participants say you shouldn’t go over the 36-hour window of fasting. That’s when you begin to feel suffering instead of benefits.

You might experience waves of hunger as you first get started with this type of fasting. It will ebb and flow, and during the times when it’s strongest and you feel like panicking, keep yourself occupied and busy until it passes.

You might be a little moody as your eating habits start to adjust. People aren’t chipper when they lose sleep, have to skip a meal, or have their routine disrupted in any way.

Make Intermittent Fasting a Portion of Your Self Care Routine

Fasting is a great time to initiate an entire self-care routine. On the days and times when you’re fasting and you’re not busy doing other things, work in some pampering for yourself.

It could be a massage or spa day – but it can also be something as simple as meditation or deep breathing techniques that you do on your own. Those are things that don’t cost a penny – and it can heighten your experience with intermittent fasting.

Fasting is different for everyone. Some are using it as a form of spiritual awakening. Others use it for weight loss or better health. Regardless of your goals, make sure that you fast according to what you can handle and enjoy because if it becomes tedious, it ruins the process and can do more damage putting stress on you than benefits.

Type 2 diabetes is a condition in which the pancreas fails to provide the insulin needed or it doesn’t work well enough to break down the glucose. When the glucose isn’t properly broken down, your body’s cells are not able to use it. When that happens, the effects can wreak havoc.

The unused glucose then stays in the bloodstream. Does this mean that a person can be born with Type 2 diabetes? No. The main cause of this type of diabetes is eating more food than the body can use. This leads to the excess food being stored by the body as extra fat. Each pound of weight gained in turn then compounds the problem.

The pancreas is designed to utilize the food given and turn it into fuel. This fuel allows the body to accomplish the day to day living. By giving the pancreas too much fuel, it can eventually become overloaded and unable to keep up with the demand.

It’s the same concept as if you were planning a road trip. You head to the gas station to fill up your car’s sixteen-gallon tank. Only you discover the gas is cheap and looks pretty good so you’re going to put twenty gallons in instead.

You keep pouring the gas in even after the full mark is reached. What happens? The excess fuel spills out onto the pavement because the car can’t hold all the fuel.  With Type 2 diabetes, the excess fuel that stays in your bloodstream is dangerous both short term and long term.

Internal organs are then affected by the high levels of glucose and complications such as nerve damage or heart attacks can occur. These complications don’t happen overnight but often take years before any significant damage happens.  Type 2 diabetes has been referred to as ‘the silent killer’ because many people have the disease and don’t realize it.

The Symptoms of Diabetes

The most widely known symptoms of diabetes are excessive thirst and frequent urination. Since those two symptoms are talked about most often, it’s easy to miss other lesser-known side effects of having Type 2 diabetes, especially as these symptoms can also take years to develop.

Besides increased thirst, Type 2 diabetes causes fatigue. Not just ‘too tired to get out of bed’ fatigue, but a weariness that overcomes the body and you feel like you can’t make it through the afternoon without a nap. The fatigue is heavy enough to cause difficulty focusing or concentrating. You feel foggy, unable to accomplish the tasks you could once breeze through to completion.

The disease also causes blurred vision, the feeling that your eyes are having trouble focusing. Sadly, this is a key symptom often missed in people of middle age as they attribute the vision problems to aging.

Severe headaches caused by high glucose levels are also a sign of diabetes as can dizziness. Though dizziness is one of the hardest complaints for a doctor to find a cause for, in people with Type 2 diabetes, the dizziness feels as if you’re walking sideways or the room is tilting to one side.

At night while trying to go to sleep, if you get the sensation that you’re moving and you’re not or that you’re falling and you’re not, this can also be a sign to get checked.

For women, recurring yeast infections are a sign to get checked for the disease as diabetes causes these infections due to the high level of sugar spilling into the urine. When the body can’t break down the glucose, it tries to get rid of it through the kidneys, which is why diabetes can also cause kidney failure if left unmanaged.

Numbness and tingling of the fingers, hands, and feet can also be a sign of diabetes. If you lie in bed at night and your hand and fingers are tingling, don’t assume it’s because of the way you laid on it. The pins and needles sensation could be from the nerves being exposed to too much glucose.

Weight loss without trying is a symptom of Type 2 diabetes that’s very dangerous if overlooked. When the weight loss is rapid, it can mean that your cells aren’t getting the glucose they need and they’re beginning to starve.

Who’s at Risk for Developing Type 2 Diabetes

If you overindulge in food, you’re always at risk, but certain ethnic groups do carry a greater chance of getting this kind of diabetes. While diabetes is common in Caucasians, the risk of becoming a Type 2 diabetic is greater if you’re African American or Hispanic. This is because the family heritage plays a strong role in determining lifestyle that can lead to overeating.

Type 2 diabetes has also been called ‘adult-onset’ diabetes, leading many to falsely believe that it’s a problem mainly for overweight adults. But the truth is that in today’s world, even children are at great risk and are being diagnosed in record numbers simply because they are carrying around too much weight for their body.

By having an immediate family member, especially a parent or sibling who has or had diabetes, your odds of developing Type 2 diabetes increase. Anyone can develop Type 2 diabetes based on the mentioned risks, but if you’re a woman and you were ever diagnosed with gestational diabetes, high blood pressure or polycystic ovary syndrome, then you are at a greater risk.

You can get tested for diabetes by undergoing a fasting glucose tolerance test, but be aware that this is not always an indicator that you don’t have the disease if you get a negative result.

The best bet is to have your doctor give you an A1c test. This is a blood test that shows what your glucose levels were for the past three months and is one of the best indicators for how your body is handling the glucose-whether it’s being used properly or is staying in your bloodstream. The best result is a reading of less than six percent.

Suppose you weren’t aware of all the risks of Type 2 diabetes or you assumed that it wouldn’t happen to you. What do you do when you do receive a diagnosis of diabetes? The first thing you should do is take a deep breath. Next, realize you can fight back against the diagnosis and reverse it.

When a person is diagnosed with diabetes, many doctors hand out a few pamphlets on the disease and a prescription for medication without telling the patients that there is an alternate route.

A handful of widely known diabetes organizations never mention that diabetes reversal is possible. Why? Because diabetes is a big business and there’s revenue to be gained for those organizations, but you owe it to yourself to be the most informed about any condition you’re diagnosed with. If your doctor tells you that you have diabetes, you should know more about the disease than he or she does because it’s your health on the line.

Diabetes in Reverse: Glucose Control

Leading university scientists have studied diabetes and ways to educate people about the condition for years. Now, studies done within the last four years have shown that Type 2 diabetes can be reversed with certain changes in the lives of those who are said to have the disease.

The very first step to take when you’re told you have diabetes is to get a blood glucose meter. You can find them for a variety of costs from the local pharmacy or retail store. You can also get them for free from some manufacturers.

They do this because they want you to buy their testing strips and most strips are expensive. Most insurance companies will gladly pay for strips because they know the key to fighting long term complications of diabetes lies in reversing it.

What happens when you get too hot? You try to cool off, get something cold to drink right? What happens when you get too cold? You seek warmth, get a coat. You try to keep your body neither too hot or cold but just right.

It’s the same with glucose control. You don’t want it too high (complications will occur) or too low (again, complications can occur) you want it to be normal or just right.

To reverse Type 2 diabetes, one of the top three factors involved is keeping your blood glucose at a non-diabetic level. This means you check your glucose when you get up in the morning.

You check it two hours after you start a meal. That means if you eat lunch at noon, you check your glucose at two. It doesn’t matter when you finish the meal. It matters when you started it.

You should check your glucose before you go to bed at night. If it’s too high, you know you need to work harder to get it lower. If it’s too low, you know you need a snack. What reading is too high? What reading is too low? It depends on a few factors. Whether you’re a man or a woman. Whether you’re currently inactive or active.

Checking your glucose readings cannot be a hit or miss deal. If you want to reverse your diabetes, you must check your blood glucose every day and record the amount in a log. It’s the only way you’ll be able to track your progress. By using the meter after you consume a meal, you’ll also be able to see which foods are best for your body and which ones are worst.

Diabetes in Reverse: The Foods You Eat

How much and what kinds of foods you eat is the second factor in reversing Type 2 diabetes. If someone was diagnosed with the color red causing too high glucose levels, the simple solution would be to avoid the color red.

But because it’s food (quantity and quality) that cause Type 2 diabetes, the task is a little harder. After all, you can’t avoid food. What you can do however is make sure what you eat works with your body instead of against it and helps to maintain steady, normal glucose.

What is it that decides glucose control? You do by the foods you eat. Foods that are carbohydrates can be classified by the number on the glycemic index. This index lets you know how high a certain food will send your glucose reading. This is important because of the higher a food’s glycemic rating, the worst effect it will have on being able to reverse your diabetes.

Carbohydrates are either simple or complex. The difference is found in the way the body absorbs them-whether it’s fast or slow absorption. Carbohydrates that are high on the glycemic index are foods involving white flour-sandwich bread, any meat coated with a white flour coating, an example would be breaded nuggets or haddock, white rice, flour tortillas are all high on the index. These foods can raise your glucose levels significantly.

Understand though that just because a food is low on the glycemic chart doesn’t mean it’s good for someone who’s trying to reverse Type 2 diabetes. Fruits contain natural sugar and will spike your glucose rapidly. Until you get your glucose levels down low enough where your diabetes is reversed, watch your fruit intake.

Diabetes in Reverse: Your Exercise Routine

The third factor in determining that diabetes can be reversed is exercise. Lack of exercise is one of the causes that leads to weight gain that leads to inactivity that leads to diabetes. It’s all connected.

The same as if there had never been a diagnosis of diabetes, maintaining healthy body weight and exercise is good for the body. It promotes health and longevity and can prevent or stop certain diseases including diabetes.

Since diabetes goes hand in hand with heart disease, by starting a daily exercise routine, you’ll be able to head that one off before it becomes a problem as well. The kinds of exercise you do depend on what your body can handle to start with.

If you’re a bonafide couch potato and the only race you’ve won lately is to the refrigerator before your show returned from commercial break, you’ve got to start slow. The best way to go from inactive to active is not rushing full speed ahead. The key is consistency. Daily exercise even if all you can do is ten minutes a day to start with.

You can begin with ten minutes a day for a week. The next week, add five minutes, after that, five more until you’re exercising thirty minutes a day. Because diabetes is known to impede healing, until you reverse it, be careful when you exercise. Don’t strain yourself. Make sure you take the time to warm up your muscles first.

You also have to watch for low glucose readings after you exercise. Exercise drops the glucose and the rate and number it drops depend on what kind of exercise you do for what length of time. So take your reading before and after you exercise. Make sure you have a snack nearby in case it does drop too low.

The purpose behind a regular exercise routine is for weight loss. Losing excess weight helps your body’s ability to use food. Your pancreas doesn’t have to work as hard if you’ll do the hard work instead.

Diabetes in Reverse: Managing What Led to the Lifestyle

No one wakes up one morning and decides to fall into a feeding frenzy, gorging himself or herself on food until the numbers on the scale rise dramatically. It’s a slow process. Maybe there was an accident and your mobility was taken away from you for a period of time. Perhaps there was some emotional stress that led to what’s known as food therapy-trying to medicate and quiet the issue or issues with food.

Whatever caused the weight gain, especially if it was brought on by emotional causes must be dealt with. Whether it’s self-help, the support of a group of like individuals or therapy, you have to expose and dig up the root of the cause.

Stress can cause glucose levels to spike and it must be dealt with. If you can change whatever is causing the stress in your life, then do it. If you can’t, then you must learn how to manage it and by the way, exercise is a great stress reliever.

You have to take the first step through in order to change. There’s no way to sugar coat it, there are no magic potions you can mix up to wish away a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes. What there is though is a reversal in the power of your hands. If you get diagnosed and choose to do nothing, you are making a choice that will have a lifetime of consequences in the form of health complications.

A diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes doesn’t have to be the end. It can be the signal that it’s time to take a hard look at your lifestyle and make some changes to take back control and head in reverse.

If you’ve suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome, you know that it can be debilitating and exhausting.  And there are many people who think that you don’t look sick and don’t have empathy for you.

The medical community has very little help for people who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome, also known as CFS – but there are many things you can do to get some natural relief.

There are some helpful ways you can treat chronic fatigue syndrome naturally and get some energy back.  If you’ve been struggling and you haven’t found that medicine is offering a solution, these tips can give you hope.  But first, let’s look at understanding what CFS is.

What Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a condition marked by a set of possible symptoms.  Unlike other illnesses, you won’t be able to take a specific medical test in order to verify it.  Instead, your healthcare provider will look at your symptoms and rule out other illnesses.

This disorder can cause you to feel exhausted, even after you’ve had plenty of sleep.  People with this syndrome also can have problems with muscle pain, joint pain, and headaches.

You may look like there’s nothing wrong, but you can find it difficult to get up each morning and go about your business.  People with CFS often experience depression as well.

No one knows the exact cause of chronic fatigue syndrome, but it’s thought to be related to inflammation in the body.  Researchers think that it might be related to infection by a virus or it could be related to physical trauma.

CFS can affect every area of your life.  It can make it difficult to complete your daily tasks, strain relationships, and impact your self-worth.  And it can be really frustrating to find that there’s no medical cure.

But when you work on natural remedies that can help reduce your symptoms, you can find relief and you can have hope.  You don’t have to accept that you’ll never feel good again.  But you may have to accept that life will be different from now on.

Eat Your Way to Better Health

What you eat is critical to your good health.  Chronic fatigue syndrome is an inflammatory condition that can be exacerbated by poor nutrition.  It’s especially problematic when you eat foods that cause inflammation such as:

  • Refined sugar
  • White flour
  • Artificial flavoring
  • Artificial colors
  • Preservatives
  • Saturated fats

Eliminating these foods and eating whole foods will help reduce inflammation in your body and can do wonders to bring relief to your chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms.

Eating whole foods means eating foods in their most natural state.  A diet high in whole foods will include:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Whole grains
  • Lean protein
  • Healthy fat from oils and nuts

You’ll also want to eat as many organic foods as possible.  Foods that aren’t produced organically often contain toxins from pesticides, herbicides, and preservatives.  These toxins cause inflammation in your body, which exacerbates your CFS symptoms.

Shopping around the perimeter of the supermarket and sticking to fresh foods goes a long way toward making your diet healthier.  It’s best to avoid foods that are prepackaged or filled with preservatives.

In just a few weeks of eliminating inflammatory foods, you’ll begin to see some relief from your symptoms.  You’re likely to have fewer aches and pains, fewer problems with sleep, and an increase in energy.

Fatigue Fighting Supplements

Supplements can also help you have relief from your CFS maladies.  It’s important to make sure that any supplement is appropriate for you by checking with your healthcare provider.

But most of these supplements are free from side effects and will help your body naturally heal itself.

L-carnitine – L-carnitine is known for helping the body to increase energy.  Studies have shown it to be effective for people with CFS and have reduced problems with muscle weakness.

Move Your Body Carefully

When you have chronic fatigue syndrome, the idea of exercising can be almost incomprehensible.  You’re already exhausted.  How can you even consider getting exercise into your routine?  The good news is that it doesn’t take much to begin seeing improvement.

With chronic fatigue syndrome, it’s important to exercise – but it’s also important to pace yourself.  Start very slow.  Even taking a five-minute walk is enough to give you benefits and it may be all you can do.

After taking a five-minute walk every day for a week or two, you can try adding more time to your walk.  Even moving up to seven minutes can help you build more strength and stamina.

You’ll also want to incorporate strength training and flexibility exercises to tone up your body and reduce inflammation and aches.  Lifting five pound weights is sufficient to help you get started.

You might also want to try stretching and yoga to help ease your symptoms.  Yoga, in particular, has been proven to help reduce fatigue and improve energy levels.  If you’re suffering from aches and joint pain, yoga can provide relief.

Getting a Good Night’s Sleep

When you have chronic fatigue syndrome, you may struggle with sleep.  Even though you’re exhausted, you may have a really hard time getting appropriate sleep.  It could be that you want to sleep at inappropriate times or that you have insomnia.

There are things you can do to improve the quality of sleep that you get and help you to maintain a better sleep routine.   Sleep can help reduce inflammation in your body and can help you reverse the symptoms of CFS.

First, it’s important to get on a routine.  This means going to bed and waking up at the same time each day.  It can be hard to make yourself do this, but eventually, establishing this routine will help you get the sleep you need.

If you struggle to fall asleep at night, you might get relief from the supplement melatonin.  Melatonin is the body’s natural sleep hormone – and when you take it daily, it can help you fall asleep and stay asleep.

It’s also important to create a comfortable environment for sleep.  That includes a supportive mattress, pillows, and bedding that are comfortable for you.  The temperature in your room should also be on the cool side.

If you’re bothered by noises in the night, using a white noise machine can help drown out sounds that might wake you up.  You can also use a fan that makes noise for this purpose.

Some people also find a digital clock display to be very distracting.  You probably need an alarm clock, but you should try to turn it around so that you can’t see the display every time you open your eyes.

You should also keep other distractions in the bedroom to a minimum.  It’s not a good idea to have a television or other electronic devices in your bedroom.  These can keep you from falling asleep at night.

Your bedtime routine actually begins hours before you go to bed.  You need to do things that will help you wind down and relax so that sleep comes more easily.  Some examples of ways to wind down include:

  • Lowering the lights during the evening hours
  • Taking a warm bath
  • Reading
  • Listening to relaxing music

You should also avoid drinking caffeine at least three hours before going to bed.  Watching television or keeping lights bright can also stimulate your brain and make it more difficult to fall asleep.

If you’re still struggling to sleep, you may consider requesting a sleep study.  This can help you figure out if you have a sleep disorder, such as sleep apnea, that can be treated so that you can get better rest.

Relief Through Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine practice that has been shown to improve chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms.  This is an ancient practice that uses thin needles to help energy flow throughout the body.

Most people find acupuncture to be painless and very relaxing.  It can help you:

  • Have more energy
  • Experience fewer aches and pains
  • Sleep better
  • Improve your mood
  • Boost immunity

You need to make sure that you go to a licensed acupuncturist who is able to treat you professionally and competently.  You may also want to work with someone who practices Chinese medicine and can also prescribe Chinese herbs and other treatments.

With acupuncture, you’ll notice that the treatment is based on the whole body rather than trying to treat specific symptoms.  You’ll find that your overall health improves.

Research has shown acupuncture to be very effective for relieving chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms and improving energy levels.  Acupuncture is often covered by health insurance plans.  If your insurance doesn’t cover it, you can sometimes purchase package deals that make it more affordable.

Reducing Stress

Stress can be a major trigger for CFS.  It’s important to accept that you may not be able to do everything you’d like to do or did before you developed these symptoms.  Managing your time and saying “no” to extra responsibilities can help.

It may be important to educate others about chronic fatigue syndrome and ask for help when you need it.  The more you can accept that you need to take the time to care for yourself, the better off you’ll be.

It’s impossible to eliminate all stress.  But you can learn to reduce the stress in your life and manage what’s left.  Deep breathing and meditation can help you let go of physical stress.

Taking care of yourself with diet, exercise, sleep, and additional supplements or alternative medicine practices will also lower your stress levels and help you fight the effects of stress.

While there’s no cure for CFS, you can feel relief by taking good care of yourself.  You’ll also find that for many people, the symptoms eventually run their course and you can get back to normal.

Adding a baby to the family is the goal of many couples and for most people, getting pregnant is easy. For those couples who seem to get pregnant at the drop of a hat, it’s likely that they’re practicing some helpful hints to increase their odds of getting pregnant quickly.

You can implement these same tips and increase your chances of becoming pregnant fast, too.

#1 – Make Sure Your Timing Is Perfect

Timing really is vitally important when it comes to trying to have a baby. It takes the right time within your fertility cycle for the sperm and egg to get together and of course once that happens, a baby develops.

For this meeting to happen, you can’t simply leave it up to chance. But because the sperm likes to hang out once it’s released, you have a small window of time in order to get the job done.

When you know that you’re ovulating, you need to have sex. So you’ll want to predict your ovulation – and it’s easier to do than you might think. You can predict ovulation time by counting the days of your cycle.

You have about a 5 day window during the month in which you can get pregnant. First, figure out when your last period started. You can back up two to three months prior to help figure out your cycle average.

Most women have a cycle that falls within a 28 to 30 day average. If you fall within that time frame, then your ovulation time will be around the middle of the month – or 14-18 days into your cycle’s timing.

If that method doesn’t work for you, you can also check your timing by checking your body temperature. By checking your basal body temperature, you’ll be able to pinpoint when you’re ovulating.

If you use this method, you’ll also want to keep an eye out for the mucus that occurs when you’re ovulating. This will be noticed as a clear discharge. It should not, however, have a strong odor.

Some women like to use an ovulation predictor that you can get yourself from your local store. These inexpensive tests work similar to pregnancy tests, but these will tell you when you’re ovulating. These tests check your urine for ovulation and you get about a week’s worth of tests within a kit.

#2 – Find the Perfect Pregnancy Position

If you’ve heard that the position matters when you’re trying to conceive, then you heard correctly. While trying out new sexual positions can be fun and add some spice to your love life, some of the positions can actually work against you if you’re trying to have a baby.

The reason that some positions make it harder to conceive is that these positions make it more difficult for the sperm to reach its intended target – the egg.

When referring to a difficult task, the phrase ‘trying to swim upstream’ has been used. That’s the same difficulty that sperm face in certain positions. These positions make it tougher for the sperm to swim against gravity.

So if having a baby is your goal, you’ll want to avoid some positions until you know that you’re pregnant.

Avoid standing up while having sex. The sperm has too tough of a time trying to swim upward and the body’s natural pull against gravity also pulls downward on the vaginal mucus. Even strong sperm swimmers find it tough to beat that.

You’ll also want to avoid sitting up – such as when using a sex chair. While these toys can make sex interesting, they’re not helpful either when it comes to getting pregnant.

The best position you can use to enhance your odds of conceiving a baby is to use the missionary position – also known as the man on top. In this position, the sperm gets a straight shot at the cervix.

After you’ve been with your partner, you want to lie still immediately afterward in order to give the sperm some time to reach their intended goal. You should remain still for at least 10 minutes – 15 is even better.

Avoid going to the bathroom right after you have sex. You’ll also want to avoid using anything that upsets the vagina’s pH balance such as certain lubricants and douches.

Using different positions doesn’t mean you won’t get pregnant. You can get pregnant having sex standing up or being on top, but we’re talking about maximizing your odds.

#3 – Rule Out Fertility Problems

If you’ve tried to conceive for at least a year and you haven’t used any type of contraceptive during that year, yet haven’t been able to conceive, then you may want to visit the doctor to rule out fertility problems.

Your doctor can schedule a consultation where he’ll go over both you and your partner’s histories. By delving into your health and habits, your doctor can help you eliminate or discover things that may be preventing conception.

Certain medical problems for a woman can interfere with ovulation, so after the consultation, your doctor may order a pap smear to rule out these barriers. These obstacles can be diseases like STDs.

Your doctor may order blood work to check your progesterone level. He may also order tests that will check for hormone imbalances. And he might suggest ovulation tests that you can use at home.

If he doesn’t see anything unusual with the blood work or the at-home tests, he’ll probably want to check your reproductive organs. By getting a visual of your uterus and fallopian tubes, he can rule out any blockages or other problems.

Sometimes, infertility issues can be caused by the male partner. Your doctor can check your partner’s sperm count and the viability of the sperm. He can perform tests to see if the sperm is healthy.

Sometimes men can have a blockage that prevents the sperm from following through to the penis after leaving the testicles.

A man can also have a condition where his body creates antibodies against sperm. If that’s the case, his body will fight against his sperm, making it difficult to achieve fertilization of the woman’s egg.

#4 – Get Pregnant After a Vasectomy or Tubal Ligation

If your husband has undergone a vasectomy, it doesn’t always rule out the possibility of a pregnancy. Sperm is present right after a vasectomy and in some cases, the female partner became pregnant as late as a year following the procedure.

Though a tubal ligation is said to be permanent, it does have a pregnancy rate even years after the procedure is performed. During the procedure, access of the egg through the fallopian tubes is blocked. This is done through clipping, burning or cutting.

The main cause of a pregnancy after a tubal ligation occurs because the tubes reconnected themselves. It’s not impossible for cut tubes to go back together. However, there are some tubal ligations that make pregnancy more difficult than if the tubes were simply cut.

If you or your partner has had one of these procedures done, they can be successfully reversed and you can conceive – though your chances of conceiving are rated according to how long either procedure has been in place.

Reversing a vasectomy takes a couple of hours and can be done as an outpatient procedure, which helps minimize the cost of the operation. You’ll have to abstain from intercourse until your doctor gives the okay.

Successful reversal of a tubal ligation depends on the type of tubal that was done. The most difficult procedure to reverse is one where the fallopian tubes have been cauterized.

This is one of the most permanent methods. Your doctor will check before scheduling a surgery to see if the reversal is a good option for you. The surgery to rejoin fallopian tubes that have been cut or clamped usually takes a couple of hours.

Depending on your age and health, you may have to have a recovery period in the hospital. For couples where a tubal reversal is not an option, in-vitro fertilization can help.

#5 – Conceive When You’ve Been Using Birth Control

If you’ve been a long term user of birth control, then you may have some questions about being able to get pregnant. Being on oral contraceptive doesn’t impact your ability to get pregnant once you’ve stopped taking the pill, because your cycle will regulate itself.

Birth control pills don’t decrease your chances of regular ovulation. Many women get pregnant right away after they stop taking the pill. Other birth control methods, such as the patch, condoms or vaginal rings don’t decrease your odds of getting pregnant once you stop using them, either.

Some women end up pregnant while taking a birth control method because while the methods are useful in decreasing the chances of getting pregnant, they aren’t 100% foolproof.

So if you’re worried that your birth control might cause difficulty in allowing you to get pregnant, you can relax and know that your chances are very good. Some doctors will put you on birth control for a short period of time and abruptly take you off as a way to help you conceive if your cycle isn’t regulated.

#6 – Eat Right to Get Pregnant

The time to prepare your body for pregnancy is before it actually happens. You can increase your odds of getting pregnant by making sure your nutritional needs are met.

You need to make sure that you’re eating a healthy array of foods. Eat lean meat and don’t forget your vegetables and fruit. When you’re trying to get pregnant, having a healthy diet isn’t always enough.

Eat a lot of plant protein. It’s been shown to decrease your odds of having fertility issues.  Drink milk and eat whole-fat ice cream, too. It aids in ovulation. Increase foods rich in iron and eat foods that keep your blood sugar steady and low.

That’s why your doctor will often prescribe vitamins. You’ll want to get your folic acid level checked. This vitamin is vital in the fight against birth defects and it’s one of the reasons that doctors prescribe it to pregnant women.

Get a jump on this by adding this vitamin to your daily nutritional intake. Calcium is important for your pre-pregnancy health. Calcium aids the body in many ways – including hormone production and muscle contractions.

Go ahead and start a vitamin regimen under a doctor’s care so that you can prepare your body with the best chance of conceiving a healthy baby. Nutritional needs are not always about what you put into your body.

It can also be about what you don’t put into your body. While you’re preparing to get pregnant, there are certain substances you should not put into your body. Caffeine consumption needs to be cut out.

Don’t go cold turkey or you may get caffeine headaches. Come off of this stimulant slowly. You’ll also want to stop consuming anything that can be harmful to a baby and this includes alcohol, cigarettes and even certain medications.

#7 – Increase the Odds of You Having Twins

Having twins isn’t something that happens only to people with a family history of having twins – though that certainly does raise the odds. Even without a genetic history of twins, there are several ways that you can increase your odds of giving birth to multiples.

Breastfeeding women who get pregnant have a higher chance of conceiving twins. Though many doctors warn against weight gain, studies have shown that women who are overweight have an increased chance of getting pregnant with twins.

Adding folic acid to your nutritional intake can also raise your chance of having twins. Foods like yams and milk work in your favor as well.

Hyperovulating – the condition in which more than one egg is released when ovulating – can also cause a woman to conceive twins. Women who choose to undergo fertility treatments are often given fertility drugs that greatly increase the odds of having twins.

Being pregnant 4 or more times can increase the chances of having twins – and age can play a role as well. Because of higher hormone production, older women have a higher chance of getting pregnant with twins.

#8 – Things Your Man Can Do to Help You Get Pregnant

Get a check-up. Your man should head to the doctor and get a clean bill of health or take care of any health concerns the doctor raises so that it can increase your chances of getting pregnant.

He can avoid taking things that can contribute to a lowered sperm count. One of these things is alcohol. If he balks at that, explain that it’s not forever – just during the window of time you both need in order to conceive.

Your partner needs to eat healthily and take his vitamins. He needs to stay physically fit. Unlike a woman, where extra weight can increase the odds of having twins, extra weight for a man can result in a lowered sperm quality.

He needs to make sure he keeps his testicles at a cool temperature. Taking a hot shower, a hot bath or chilling in a hot tub can damage sperm and decrease your chances of conceiving due to the damaged sperm. Even wearing tight underwear can ruin his sperm count.

Finally, your partner can make sure that the two of you are as financially fit as possible. This action will relieve the stress that can be put on finances when a baby comes along.

If he can make sure that the budget can handle you taking time off for maternity leave, that can help you relax and enjoy the time with the new baby. And if conception is more difficult than you thought it would be, a cushion of funds for fertility treatments can help you navigate the process with ease.

Himalayan sea salt is also identified as Himalayan pink salt because of its trademark pink color that originates from the presence of rich minerals, particularly iron. Himalayan crystal salt and Himalayan rock salt are different names for this mineral salt.

The effective healing properties of salt have been known for some hundreds of years. Salt originates from the Latin word sal which originates from sol, meaning liquid sunlight. The Celtic word for salt originates from the German word Heilig, meaning Holy, which originates from heil, meaning whole.

Make Himalayan pink salt to some part of your homesteading and prepping plan for enhanced flavor in your cooking, as well as for detoxification, better respiratory health, and lower blood pressure. It can also help you to sleep better, resolve bruxism and significantly more. The primary thing you’ll see is the rich translucent tones of pink ~ you can really observe the following minerals refracting light in the crystal chunks. The quality of the color is that pink Himalayan salt contains all the 84 components found in your body. It’s unlike ordinary table salt in every way.

In our reality overrun with innovation, it appears that anxiety and stress have been on the rise for a quite some time. We have discussed numerous natural solutions for anxiety before, but we’d like to mention the Himalayan salt light as a viable solution for anxiety today. Wireless technology emits positive ions into the environment, which make our systems to become imbalanced and increase pressure and anxiety. Negative ions found in nature help to keep anxiety and worry under control, which explains why many of us feel more refreshed and caution while outside.

It has lots of extraordinary benefits. It helps to:

1. Reduce blood pressure

Himalayan rock salt itself can lessen cholesterol and blood pressure and contains 84 minerals vital to your health. Also, Himalayan salt regulates the water content in your body, advances a healthy pH, regulates sleep, keeps your bones strong, and much more. Therefore, it should not shock anyone that Himalayan salt lamps also have various health benefits.

2. Salt lights are supposed to counter positive ions with negative ions.

It’s essential to put a few huge salt lights around your house. Bigger salt lights will distribute more negative ions in your living space and counter those positive ones that can cause stress.

3. They refine the air around you.

Some even believe that the negative ions transmitted by these powerful lights can abolish many of the radioactive waves coming from our various electronic devices that fill our homes.

Believe it or not, these lights may even benefit your body more directly.

4. They may enable you to combat disease.

A few people believe that the “electric smog” that radiates from our electronic devices can bring about cancer, but negative ions are believed to clear at least some of it up. If you combine a salt light, meditation, and an adorable cat to pet, you will be in genuine zen mode.

5. Lifts your vitality levels.

The monotonous routine can become too much on occasion and salt lights have been associated with higher vitality in general. Having more vitality will only expand upon the pressure help you’re getting from the light. This may come about because of better oxygen flow to the brain.

6. Can enable you to fall asleep faster.

We all realize that we are a better version of ourselves when we get great sleep. You are more casual and only more joyful in general. I personally lay down with a salt light alongside me during the night because of the soothing inclination it induces in a low-lit room.

7. It Helps to Reduce Stress

First of all, if you are struggling with a high amount of stress, you definitely need a salt light in your home! You may have an increased amount of stress from having too numerous positive ions in your home and insufficient negative ones. If you once in a while keep your windows open and are constantly around the television, PC, and different sources of positive ions, this can influence you to experience a higher amount of pressure that is more difficult to resolve. If you experience the unfriendly effects of stress, make an attempt at getting light and wait about seven days before you see a distinction.

8. It Can Help You Find Relief for Your Anxiety

Suffering from anxiety, whether it is generalized anxiety disorder or fits of anxiety, can be hopeless. The fits of anxiety tend to appear suddenly and you often don’t realize what is triggering your anxiety. What if it is really from the air quality or too numerous positive ions? This is exceptionally conceivable, as numerous things in your environment can contribute to your anxiety. It doesn’t hurt to try the Himalayan salt light out at making you can sleep easy.

9. Help to better sleep

Himalayan salt lights release negative ions into the air, which decrease anxiety and advance a relaxing, serene environment for sleep. Because Himalayan salt happens naturally in the Earth, it automatically radiates negative ions, similarly as you can find in waterfalls, seas, and other natural features on our planet.

Himalayan salt lights are basically an expansive part of pure Himalayan salt cut out into a light with a little bulb on the inside. They come in a variety of sizes, and you can put them all-around your home in whatever rooms you desire. However, make sure to at least place them in the bedrooms, as they will help create a relaxing environment for sleep.

10. Alleviates Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome (AFS)

As we discussed Himalayan sea salt is known to contain over 84 follow minerals including selenium, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. These minerals have the property to induce better sleep, advance healthy body functions, reduce sodium level in the blood, flush out body toxins and lessen inflammation. Studies have related selenium deficiency with adrenal fatigue. By including rock salt in your diet, your body benefits from the rich minerals.

Depression from SAD Isn’t as Severe

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) often happens in the winter when there isn’t a lot of sunlight. This isn’t because of the sunshine and vitamin D, but because of the absence of negative ions. You require the sunlight to feel glad, and many persons begin experiencing serious depression during the winter. This is a great time to turn on your Himalayan salt lamp.

Contrary to prevalent thinking, positive ions are really averse to our emotional well-being. According to the World Health Organization, the brain is forayed by twenty times more frequencies than should be expected, exposing it to constant electromagnetic radiation. Janice Taylor from Natural Living Ideas says that the long-term impacts this radiation can have on the brain include: increased feelings of anxiety, chronic fatigue, a lowered immune system, allergies, nerve disorders, insomnia, and other mental health issues.

It is for this reason that sources of negative ions, including Himalayan salt lights, are vital to balancing out and neutralizing these unnatural electronic waves. In addition, positive ions decrease ciliary movement in the trachea, which causes lung contamination, so negative ions help the lungs to breathe properly. Jonasson says that these lights are associated with other health benefits, for example, diminished brain pains and migraines, an enhanced respiratory system, improved arthritis, stimulated blood, serotonin production and oxygen stream in the brain, enhanced hypersensitivities, skin conditions, and enhanced mental and stress-related disorders

Which, in the case of the latter, can generally even be caused by something as basic as static power. Taylor includes that having a few lights a clock in the vicinity can help treat Seasonal Affective Disorder by providing light right when the days begin getting shorter.

Exceptionally appreciated, salt is vital to man – enough so to be the reason behind wars and revolutions in our early history. This important stuff is required by each living being. Without salt, a body can’t transport sustenance, oxygen or even nerve impulses. In case you’re going to pick only one salt, make in Himalayan salt, which has the most benefits.

Just a little change in ph can deeply affect body functioning.

The initial move towards great health begins with helping the body become more alkaline. The corrosive alkaline adjust is vital, since numerous functions in the body happen only at a certain level of acidity or alkalinity. Many enzymes and chemical reactions in the body work best at a specific ph, and research has shown that high acid levels prompt an absence of vitality, and higher incidences of infection.

While you may think that raw organic ACV is acidic, when consumed, it really becomes alkaline. Acid forming nourishments include things like processed foods, alcohol, sugar and other simple carbohydrates. Keeping your body more alkaline will naturally help keep your vitality step up and better capable it to fight off illness and disease.

The antioxidant properties in vinegar can help avert premature aging and even guide in slowing down the aging procedure. Acv’s ability to maintain the stability of the acid/alkaline balance in the body also plays a key role.

Adrenal fatigue is a term connected to a collection of nonspecific symptoms, for example, body aches, fatigue, anxiety; sleep imbalance and digestive problems. The term often appears in prevalent health books and on alternative medicine sites but is not an accepted medical diagnosis.

Your adrenal gland creates a collection of hormones that are essential to life. The medical term adrenal insufficiency (Addison’s disease) alludes to inadequate production of at least one of these hormones because of an underlying disease.

Your body’s immune system responds by slowing down when you’re under pressure. Your adrenal glands, which are little organs above your kidneys, respond to stress by releasing hormones like cortisol. They regulate your blood pressure and how your heart functions.

According to the hypothesis, if you have long-term pressure (like the death of a relative or a serious illness), your adrenal organs cannot continuously deliver the additional cortisol you have to feel good. So adrenal fatigue sets in.

Adrenal fatigue is where your body and adrenal glands can’t keep up with the tremendous amount of daily stress many people experience. Some of the time misunderstood as an autoimmune disorder, adrenal fatigue can copy a few antecedents to other common sicknesses and disease.

Wellbeing doctors and practitioners believe that a scene of acute stress or prolonged, chronic stress can make adrenal glands to become overloaded and ineffective, and then incorrectly release cortisol.

The adrenal glands are the main stress control system of the body. Adrenal Fatigue is a decrease in the adrenal glands’ ability to do this typical function. It is commonly caused by chronic stress from any source (including emotional, physical, mental, or environmental) that surpasses the body’s ability to change appropriately to the demands put on it by the stress.

Stressors that can prompt Adrenal Fatigue include disgrace, chronic sickness, depression, surgery, high sugar intake, over exercise, lack of sleep, chronic or intense infections including Giardia and H. pylori and root canal repair, just to mention a couple.

Signs and symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue:

  • An inclination to gain weight and inability to lose it. Particularly around the waist.

  • High recurrence of getting the flu virus and other respiratory diseases with symptoms that tends to last longer than common.

  • The tendency to tremble when underweight.

  • Lessened sex drive.

  • Fibromyalgia.

  • Chronic fatigue.

  • Craving for salty and fatty foods.

  • Hypoglycemia.

  • Chronic pain.

  • Lightheadedness when rising from a prone position.

  • Brain fog.

  • Lack of energy in the evening.

  • Dependence on coffee to get through the day.

None of these signs or symptoms by themselves can definitively point to Adrenal Fatigue. However, as a group of symptoms, in the context of a generally healthy person, they do form a specific Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome or picture, that is, of a person under pressure and the body is failing physiological response to manage such a burden. Adrenal Fatigue, as a debilitating condition, is not recognized by conventional medicine and is hence missed by most conventionally trained physicians.

The Three Stages of Adrenal Fatigue

There are three phases of adrenal fatigue. Each one is associated with a different sort of cortisol inequality, and typically people progress from stage 1 to stage 3 successively over time.

Stage 1: Wired and tired

This stage is described by high cortisol levels, especially at night, leading to insomnia, insulin resistance, and abdominal weight gain. Individuals often feel invigorated but in an edgy “wired” way.

Stage 2: Stressed and tired

In this stage, many people wake up at early hour in the morning (often around 3am) and cannot fall back asleep. Later in the day, some stressor kicks in, and they feel more awake. Their cortisol tops early, flattens out, but often has an early afternoon or early evening rise.

Stage 3: Burnout

This stage is represented by exhaustion regardless of hours dozed, a flat cortisol bend, and sometimes low DHEA and thyroid hormone levels. My friend’s patient was in stage three — an unsafe place to be because it has linked with a higher danger of autoimmune disease.

How to fix adrenal fatigue

Because adrenal fatigue is a response to a prolonged state of stress or exhaustion, it cannot quickly retreat. Fixing adrenal fatigue takes time and relies on a number of factors.

Making the following lifestyle changes – and committing to them in the long-term – is the best method to reverse this condition and appreciate better health once more.

Build rest into your day

The last thing my friend’s patient required was high-intensity cardio that would further burn her out. He included Iyengar yoga into her calendar twice per week and showed her to take two 20-minute rest breaks a day; these were not naps, but time outs alone to breathe and restore.

Lower Stress

A high level of stress is the main cause of adrenal fatigue, so reducing stress as much as plausible is a logical step on the way to recovery.

Unfortunately, not all stressors can be avoided – which is the reason it’s important to work to enhance your coping mechanisms.

For some, exercise is a fantastic source of stress relief, as are meditation, massage, and quality sleep.

It’s also important to take time every day to do things you appreciate, whether that’s reading, gardening, cooking, or just listening to your favorite song on the radio.

Follow the adrenal diet.

This means getting free of foods that you are sensitive to and nourishments that cause inflammation and eating bunches of brightly colored vegetables, lean clean protein, and whole grain gluten-free carbs.

In my friend’s patient’s case, this implied eliminating dairy, which it turned out she was delicate to, eating more vegetables, and eating more carbs. A strict no-carb diet can stress the body, even more, worsening adrenal burnout. Obviously, he did not advise her to eat cookies and cakes, but rather quinoa, lentils, and buckwheat.

Begin Fermenting

Fermented foods are loaded with beneficial bugs – known as probiotics – which bring us innumerable health benefits.

They can enable the gut to heal after food sensitivities and digestive issues, reduce inflammation, enhance nutrient absorption, and give a huge boost to immunity.

Focus on hydration.

Dehydration is also a hallmark of adrenal fatigue. My patient took a multi follow mineral supplement so she would ingest more water into her cells. You can also add fresh lemon juice or Himalayan ocean salt to your water instead.

Reduce Your Toxic Load

The environment we live in is entirely toxic – not surprising when you consider that over 84,000 chemicals are lawfully for a deal in the US. These toxins can wreak destruction on our bodies and significantly contribute to adrenal fatigue, as they interfere with hormones, immune function, and psychological wellness. Wherever possible, buy organic food to avoid pesticide exposure,

A common clinical issue with underactive adrenal glands is hypoglycemia, or low blood sugars, particularly between dinners or while sleeping. When your body is healthy, it releases hormones like cortisol to encourage liberate glucose to maintain the functions of our brain, organs, and cells when blood sugar levels decline between suppers, or overnight during sleep. When cortisol is depleted, however, glucose levels have a tendency to become too low. Ultimately this causes light-headedness, shakiness, and fractiousness regularly associated with the low blood sugar experience. It also explains why individuals with low blood sugar commonly wake up during the night.

Reduce Stress by Keeping Your Blood Sugar Balanced

Unfortunately, when blood sugar drops, many persons with adrenal fatigue tend to think they have to go for a sugar fix to bring their blood sugar back in balance, but this gives only a brief fix that is always followed by a crash. The way to maintaining stable blood sugar and to avoiding the uncomfortable haziness that complements highs and lows is to go for protein, carb, fat, and fiber four times each day.

Up Your Vitamin C

The adrenal glands naturally contain the most noteworthy concentration of vitamin C in the body. When we are under stress, however, this store of vitamin C drains rapidly. The secret to enable your adrenals to repair is to include regular sources of vitamin-C-rich nourishments throughout the day. Your best decisions are strawberries; red, orange, and yellow peppers; guavas; dark leafy green vegetables, for example, kale and spinach; kiwi; broccoli; citrus foods; cooked tomatoes; green peas; and papaya.

NOW Supplements, Vitamin C-1000 Sustained Release, 250 Tablets

Shield Your Adrenals from the Stress of Exercise

In the state of adrenal fatigue, the body does not have the supply of hormones expected to maintain energy, performance, and to just adjust to the request of rigorous exercise. Running, Spinning, and every single other form of endurance activity will only compound adrenal fatigue. Choose activities that will not pressure your body and that will refill liveliness holds rather than continue to drain them.

Health Benefits of Frankincense Oil

Frankincense health benefits are innumerable, so it is also known for its myriad of health benefits, some of which are:

  1. Prevents premature loss of hair.
  2. Helps fade stretch marks and scars.
  3. Gives relief of bronchitis and congestion.
  4. Boosts immune system.
  5. Effective remedy against stress and anxiety.
  6. Antiseptic and anti-aging properties.
  7. Aids in digestion and aids in urination.
  8. Relieves symptoms linked with PMS.

How to Make Frankincense Oil

Frankincense oil is manufactured by steam-distilling the raw resin. When purchasing frankincense oil, make certain you only select 100 % pure essential oil of the highest quality.  Doterra and Young Living Essential Oils are two companies that sell Food Grade Frankincense oil.

Also, do not confuse frankincense essential oil with fragrance oil. Essential oils come from plants, whilst fragrance oils are generally artificially created and frequently include synthetic chemicals. Even though they smell good and therefore are typically more affordable, fragrance oils do not give you the therapeutic advantages of organic essential oils.

Frankincense Side Effects & Interactions

Frankincense essential oil is very well tolerated, particularly when also compared to prescription medications. There are no reported serious side effects when using Frankincense oil to date, provided large quantities are not ingested as this can result in it becoming toxic.

It is rare for Frankincense oil to cause a reaction for people, however, possible reactions may include minor skin rashes and digestive challenges such as nausea or stomach pains. Frankincense oil is a known blood thinning effect, so is not recommended to be used by anyone who has blood clotting problems. It is also important to be mindful that Frankincense may have potential to negatively react with certain anticoagulant medications, again making it important to discuss use with a doctor first.
